Can reflexology help with headaches?

In looking for ways to get relief from headaches and migraines, we first need to understand what’s going on.

There are over 150 types of headaches! Here we have narrowed that down to the two most common types:

1. Tension headaches are the most common. And as the name implies are caused by tension in the head and neck, stress, and fatigue.

2. While we don’t yet know the exact cause of migraines, it is believed to be connected to abnormal activity in nerves, chemicals, and blood vessels in the brain. There also seems to be a genetic component in getting them.

There are known triggers that can lead to migraines such as:

  • Stress and other emotions (shock, depression, anxiety, etc.)

  • Menstruation for women and other hormonal changes in the body

  • Fatigue and other physical causes (neck tension, low blood sugar, overexertion, etc.)

  • Alcohol, caffeine, and other food and drinks

Coming at this problem from a reflexologist’s perspective there are immediately a few things that stand out. Reflexology has been shown to:

  • Reduce stress

  • Improve sleep

  • Relax the body

  • Reduce tension

  • Reduce pain

  • Return the body to its healing state

  • Improve circulation helping the blood carry oxygen and nutrients to the brain

  • Stimulates over 7,000 nerves in each foot

,advice, and remedies for helping with headaches and migraines, each person is unique so the only way to know if reflexology can help you is to book a few sessions and see for yourself.
